STEM lab at Essex Elementary School

The Essex Elementary School Foundation (EESF) has gifted a state-of-the-art STEM classroom lab for grades K-6 to the Essex Elementary School. The new lab allows students to come together, problem solve and is flexible enough to be transformed to meet the activity needs of the student.

The Connecticut Science Center was retained and charged with designing a classroom that enables a collaborative learning environment and promotes creativity, innovation, and potential to all students, expanding beyond core science subjects, including engineering, robotics and mathematics.

“We want our community of Essex Elementary School students to be inspired by potential future STEM careers in Computer Science, Advanced Manufacturing, Bioengineering, and beyond.”
— Bill Jacaruso

“Early exposure to STEM experiences for young students supports the development of curiosity and interest while building
confidence for successful
STEM learners”.

— Megan Ramer, Director of
Programs at the Connecticut
Science Center

Throughout the school year, The Connecticut Science Center will offer students and teachers on-going support, including providing student programming in the space, and planning support to develop and facilitate activities in the STEM Lab.
